The darkness of the winter forests

Okay. I get it. This was the year of "grey". And rain, and darkness. And winter is now upon is, so any hope the year might improve is kind of gone, as the days shorten away to slivers of slightly less dark periods between the long nights.

From a photographic perspective, a lack of light presents challenges. After all, photography is capturing light. So if you have poor light, you get poor photographs. Right?

Maybe it just needs a different frame of mind: embrace the darkness, and emphasize it.

The bare drabness of the winter forests can be quite beautiful too, even on a dark and rainy day or night.
