Through the South Lakes to Wastwater

I started a long camping tour of Cumbria and the Yorkshire Dales with a trip through the south Lakes, through Eskdale and to Wast water. This lake was voted the favourite view in Britain. I'm not sure it is quite that for me, but it's undeniably beautiful.

I was lucky to get dark skies for an hour or two after sunset, and then the moon came up and instantly bathed Wasdale in bright blue light. It was quite spectacular; in such a dark place, almost like the sun rising.

The south Lakes.

Looking over to Eskdale.

The sun is setting.

The sun has set.

Then the moon rises over the hilltops.

And then in the morning, the sun.
