Steel is real (as they say)

Forget your fancy carbon fibre stuff. I've been there, done that. This is a real bike, made from 531 Competition tubing. Heavy and sturdy enough to give a solid, smooth and reassuring ride, but light enough to still move fast.

To anybody that thinks that a bike like this can't compete against modern carbon fibre bikes, I'm ready to go for a spin up Box Hill when you are.

Two wheels are great.

When Raleigh bikes were still made in Nottingham, rather than China.

Lugs.

Downtube shifters. Definitely not as convenient as integrated shifting, but they are satisfyingly precise, and easy to use once you get used to them.

You can't tell from this, but this has Biopace chainrings. Not circular, not oval.
