RAF Mountain Rescue, Leeming Troop

I ran into the RAF Mountain Rescue Leeming Troop practicing high angle rescue techniques on Oxnop Scar, in Swaledale.

The RAF Mountain Rescue are all volunteers (from some other part of the RAF), and spend many weekends a year training on the hills and fells.

Anybody who spends time in the hills of the UK might eventually need their services, so it was interesting watching them training: a very professional bunch, who all clearly enjoy being out on the end of a rope.

A good article here on them.
