Sharp Edge

Blencathra always gives me interesting experiences. This time, an ascent up Sharp Edge in freezing fog, strong winds and alone definitely had me heaving with relief at the top: for those who have never done it, it's a scramble at the best of times, but in poor conditions it can be quite dangerous. It is a narrow arete with a long drop on both sides (I couldn't see anything below me this time, mind). One bit in particular is known to be dangerous in wet weather: the Bad Step, a long and smooth sheet of rock at quite an angle, which if you lose your footing could slide you right over the edge.
