Young people from Keighley University Academy and Bradford Youth Services got to spend a couple of days at Marne barracks in Catterick Garrison. They learnt about life in the Army, had a go at the assault course, and most importantly, took selfies with big machine guns!
Deputy Leader of the House of Lords, Lord Howe, came today to see and talk with the young people as they got their taster of Army life, provided for them by 4th Infantry Brigade as part of the Supercamps initiative.
The brigade is running a series of one and two-day camps for more than 270 teenagers from West and South Yorkshire youth groups and schools.
The camps give the young people an insight into what the Army does and what it can offer them as a member of the Army Cadet Force youth organisation, as a member of the Officer Training Regiment if they go to University or as a possible career in the future.
