Lindisfarne castle after being under wraps for several years being refurbished. I was excited to go back. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed with how the National Trust have presented it: whereas once it felt warm and inviting (despite the damp and draughts), now it is empty, dead and cold, with all the furnishings gone, with most of the rooms now almost empty. An "exhibition" of a few old clay pipes and coins was supposed to highlight more of the castle's history, according to the lady on the door. Most of the lights were LED spotlights that you can buy in Aldi for £15, white and glaring and blinding. It was pretty feeble, to put it mildly.
