China: Animal market, Beijing

I definitely hadn't seen anything quite like this anywhere else. A whole indoor market devoted primarily to selling small animals. Cats, and song birds. Lizards, snakes and spiders, of all shapes, sizes and colours. And walls of fish.

But perhaps best of all, the crickets. Their price is determined by how noisy their chirp is, and they are kept in little containers made from gourds and carried around to listen to their chirp. Unofficially, some people will keep them for fighting. And they're pretty big little things, and I bet seeing a cricket fight would be quite an experience.
