Rievaulx Terrace
Rievaulx Terrace, overlooking the ruins of the abbey.
There was an art exhibition in the grounds when visiting. One exhibit was an upturned umbrella with a cup and saucer in it, filled with resin. It was for sale for 900 pounds. Little did we realise as we mocked it that the "artist" was standing nearby, listening to us.
But I'm not going to change my opinion on it: it was junk. He should be ashamed at trying to pass off junk like that as art, and charging such obscene prices for it.
Many of the other pieces were very good. Those that combine technical and artistic ability are wonderful. The umbrella, however, really was feeble, and I don't believe should have had a place alongside the others. (So much so that I didn't take a photograph of it..)
