Berwick upon Tweed

A visit to Berwick upon Tweed, Northumberland.

It is one of the most interesting towns I have visited. A real overlooked gem, and I hope more people visit this place of history and beauty.

A sentry post. Very elegantly built.

Many fine old houses.

And many of them are in rather sad condition.

I think she was actually doing laps of the town walls..

Russian cannon.

Lindisfarne castle in the distance.

Virgin train on its way to London.

The barracks.

The town hall.

It is fair to say the town's economy doesn't seem too bright at the moment.

The sally port.

The town definitely seems to have problems with subsidence.

Old cinema, with a flat above. The rest of the building appeared empty.

Amazing pub front door.
