This sky seen in Wensleydale is one of the strangest looking skies I have ever seen.
As you can see in the later photographs here, the northern side of Wensleydale was covered in a layer of thick cloud that seemed to only filter blue light through. The colours are exactly as they were in reality: a layer of grey cloud above, with the blue streak of northern Wensleydale below, and then below that, the "normal" daylight on the south side of Wensleydale, where I was standing.
It was quite eerie. (Seen at about 9.30 in the morning.)
