Rio: Life's a beach

Arriving in Rio. Beautiful clouds all the way, and some flashes of lightning in the sunset while stopped at Houston waiting for the next flight.

Life in Rio happens on the streets. That's an immediately obvious thing and very different to life in the UK. People sitting on their steps chatting and watching the world go by.

And the beach. The beach is clearly central to life in Rio. People sitting and enjoying the sun. Surfers. Strolling, running or cycling along the promenade. Acai vendors with their cups of super sweet berry goodness all slathered in layers of fluorescent toppings. Coconuts with straws sticking out of them.

It's all happening at the beach. Even on a weekday.
