The Forest of Bowland

My first visit to the Forest of Bowland area. It will probably be my last: a serious "Wicker Man" vibe going on here. Maybe not helped by the foggy conditions. But getting followed twice by people suspicious about the fact that you are taking photos is just a bit odd: having a kid on a quadbike follow you around staring at you does not make a person want to visit again...

Slaidburn, which is where most of these photos were taken, seems to be an estate village, and that sort of made sense: probably most of the houses in the village are tenanted by estate workers. Everybody knows everybody's business.

The local youth hostel looked shut up and empty, despite being "high season". Maybe the locals just eat the incomers...?
