China really likes fake stuff. And in many cases, seems to try and pass of that forgery as being real. This is Gubei Water Town, north of Beijing. While there may be some parts of the town that we did not see that are genuinely old, what we saw was brand new. It looked well built, and possibly even using traditional construction methods, but it wasn't old. Despite what the noticeboards claimed.
It is really beautiful however, and definitely worth visiting. The simple grey palette really suits the landscape surrounding the town.
