Dead butterflies and empty home

It's startling to find houses in the Yorkshire Dales that had people living in them in my lifetime, and they are now empty. This place, high up on an exposed hillside and a long climb from the nearest hamlet, must have been a pretty tough place to eke out an existence. There must have been times though that it was about as wonderful a place to live as anywhere.

Now it is closed up and dark inside, still with a few items of furniture, and a large number of butterflies, clinging and quivering to the walls, sheltering from the howling cold wind outside.
